Most Clemson basketball fans were rejoicing on Friday afternoon after the school officially announced that Brad Brownell had signed a contract extension through 2031.
The move comes after it was rumored to be happening over a month ago and following the most successful regular season in program history, coming just one game shy of winning the ACC title over Duke. The Tigers were the only ACC team to beat the Blue Devils this season and this 27-7 campaign came just one year after making the Elite Eight -- the second in program history.
Clemson has seen some unprecedented success in 15 years under Brownell, winning a multitude of big games as well as making two of the program's five Sweet 16s, one of the two Elite Eights, and five of the 15 NCAA Tournaments. That's not too bad at a school not known for basketball.
Now, he's staying for at least the next six years.
Shortly after signing the extension, Brownell released a statement.

Brownell said he remains "honored and grateful" to have led the program for 15 years and that he's been able to coach and develop young people in basketball and in life. And he gets to continue doing that which he's appreciative of. He also said that he's proud of the continuity of his coaching staff and the role they play in winning, player development, and recruiting.
Clemson fans should be thrilled that Brownell is returning because he's led the program to unprecedented success and there's no doubt that it's going to continue in 2025-26.
The future is bright on the hardwood at Clemson.
