Leaving Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, with a 41-10 win over the Boston College Eagles, there were positive takeaways regardless of the final score and individual stats.
Because of the domination that Clemson had over Boston College, the Clemson coaching staff got to see a sneak peek of what the future might look like for the running back room. Current starting running back Adam Randall is a graduate transfer who will be out of eligibility following the end of the 2025 season. Head coach Dabo Swinney and his staff are still searching for answers at the running back position for the 2026 season and beyond. The blowout win allowed Swinney and his staff to see a redshirt freshman, David Eziomume, a true freshman, Gideon Davidson, and a junior running back, Keith Adams Jr.
Adams Jr. finished with the second most rushing yards on the game, only behind Boston College’s Turbo Richards, who had 75 yards on 18 carries (4.2 yards per carry). The junior running back tallied 49 rushing yards on seven carries and even reached the endzone once on the ground. Adams was featured a lot as the main back because of the score, giving normal starter Randall a chance to rest and avoid injury in a blowout win.
The true freshman, Davidson, tallied 20 yards on five carries. The Lynchburg, Virginia, native was an ESPN four-star recruit in the 2025 class. ESPN ranked Davidson as the third-best running back in the 25’ class and the 59th-ranked overall recruit in the class.
Also seeing snaps at the running back position was freshman Eziomume. Eziomume finished the game with 18 rushing yards on his four opportunities on the ground. The freshman running back benefited from a long run of 19 yards. Eziomume also made an inopportune mistake, losing a fumble.
Eziomume was once a four-star recruit, according to , and was ranked as the 21st running back in the 2023 class.
Swinney could add to this running back room through the portal, although the Clemson head coach is known for being hesitant to recruit players from the transfer portal and prefers to stick with high school recruits.
A runaway victory over Boston College allowed Swinney and his staff to give other backs a chance to showcase their abilities.
