The college baseball transfer portal cracked open Monday morning, and Clemson felt the impact immediately. As the rumor mill started churning, Peyton Miller—our big right-hander with that electric arm—made it official on social media: he’s moving on from Coach Bakich and the Tigers.

Miller is one of the first Tigers to jump into the portal this summer, as the coaching staff gets ready for a major roster shakeup with their sights set on Omaha. In his announcement, Miller said, "After careful consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal. Thank you Clemson Baseball for the season."

From IMG Academy Standout to the Open Market

At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, Miller brought big-time size and serious credentials to Tigertown, straight from Florida’s powerhouse IMG Academy. Perfect Game called him a high-upside arm, ranking him No. 206 among all freshmen in the country and No. 52 newcomer in a loaded ACC class for 2026.

Coach Bakich and his staff first gave Miller a shot as a two-way guy, but he settled into a bullpen role this spring. Earning steady innings in the ACC meat grinder isn’t easy for any true freshman, but Miller flashed real promise when he got his chances:

  • Appearances: 6 games out of the bullpen
  • Innings Pitched: 4.1 IP
  • ERA: 4.15 (allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, on 5 hits)
  • Command: 2 strikeouts to 3 walks
  • Last Appearance: Tossed 0.1 innings in relief against Virginia Tech on May 16

The Retooling of Tiger Baseball

Miller’s departure marks the third Tiger to hit the portal on day one, joining veteran slugger Nate Savoie and lefty Noah Samol in looking for new homes.

With three years of eligibility left and that big-league frame, Miller will be a hot commodity for programs looking to build around a power arm. As for the Tigers, Coach Bakich and his staff are freeing up key scholarship spots and getting ready to attack the portal for battle-tested, veteran talent who can help Clemson chase championships.
