Good morning! Here is today’s Clemson Tigers News.

Scoreboard

Clemson Men’s Basketball 79, Pittsburgh 70: The Tigers open ACC play with a road win against the Panthers.

Marty Coleman recapped the game for Rubbing The Rock. Clemson will host archrival South Carolina on Wednesday. Both programs are undefeated.

Clemson Women’s Volleyball learned they will play UTEP in the next round of the NIVC Tournament. The game will be held in El Paso, Texas. The Tigers earned their spot with victories against Eastern Kentucky and Ball State this past weekend.

Clemson Football will play in the Gator Bowl against the Kentucky Wildcats. Read our recap here.

Head coach Dabo Swinney released this statement while on the road recruiting for the Tigers.

Clemson Football received three verbal commitments over the weekend.

Clemson’s Board of Trustees will hold a meeting at 9:00 AM this morning, and the only agenda item is ‘Football Assistant Coaches Contracts’.

We don’t know which contracts will be discussed, but this is expected to be when the contracts offered to Matt Luke and Chris Rumph will be approved by the BOT. If that is the case, we should have an official announcement from the university sometime this morning.

It is also possible some existing contracts could be amended or extended.

Today is the first day that undergraduates can officially enter the transfer portal. While we have likely heard about most of the names that plan to transfer, there will no doubt be a few more surprises that have been kept quiet.

Notable names that entered over the weekend include:

  • Texas A&M defensive lineman Walter Nolen
  • New Mexico State linebacker Jamari Buddin

We learned this morning that Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord is entering the portal and will not be playing for Ohio State against Missouri.

Similarly, Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel will enter the portal, exiting the program before their bowl game against Arizona.

Three Tigers – Hunter Helms, Mitchell Mayes, and Sage Ennis – are already in the portal because they have graduated and can enter at any time.

Other names that have announced transfers, such as Beaux Collins and Toriano Pride, will likely show up officially today or tomorrow. You can look at Clemson’s transfer tracker from 247Sports here and the overall tracker here.
