It’s a good time to be a Tiger! Here is this morning’s Clemson Tigers News.
Scoreboard
Clemson Men’s Soccer 2, Stanford 0: The Tigers shutout the Cardinal to win their quarterfinal and advance to the College Cup.
The crowd at Historic Riggs Field was one of the best atmospheres in all sports, not just soccer. The Tigers fed off that energy and took an early lead on a header by Gael Gibert in the 7th minute.
Tyler Trimnal made a played off a shot blocked by Stanford’s keeper to score Clemson’s second goal of the evening in the 37th minute.
The Tigers defense was stout, and goalkeeper Joseph Andema was outstanding. He kept his clean sheet with some mindblowing saves in the second half.
The College Cup is the Final Four of the NCAA soccer tournament, and this year it will be held in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Tigers will face the West Virginia Mountaineers in the semifinal. The other semifinal will feature the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Oregon State Beavers.
