Clemson Tigers News: Men’s Basketball cruises to victory over Alcorn State
By John Chancey
Happy Palmetto Bowl Gameday! Here is today’s Clemson Tigers News.
Scoreboard
Clemson Women’s Basketball 78, Mississippi State 81: The Tigers almost complete the upset of the 25th ranked Bulldogs.
Amari Robinson scored 21 and Ruby Whitehorn had 20 for the Tigers.
Head coach Amanda Butler was proud of the team’s effort.
"“I just saw two teams that really battled, and a lot of things didn’t go our way, and we just kept hanging in there. I’m really proud of our toughness. We need to improve our rebounding and get ready to go for these next two.”"
The Tigers have two more games this weekend in Houston.
This team might not be ready to challenge the titans of women’s basketball, but they are developing good chemistry and they have the resources on the court to be successful in the ACC.
Clemson Men’s Basketball 90, Alcorn State 69: PJ Hall score 29 points as the Tigers cruise to a victory over the Braves.
Hall fell one rebound short of a double-double. Ian Schieffelin was also close with 8 points and 10 rebounds. Chase Hunter had 18 points and 7 assists. Joe Girard had 13 points, four assists and four rebounds.
Like the women’s team, the men have been using these early season non-conference games to work out the best version of this team, and the early results are promising. The biggest test of their progress so far will come this Tuesday when the Tigers go on the road to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to take on the 17th ranked Crimson Tide in the ACC/SEC Challenge.
