Shelton Lewis

Shelton Lewis was another 3-star who was once committed to another program. Lewis committed to Pittsburgh in early June coming off a visit high. The verbal commitment didn’t even last through the end of the month before he re-opened his recruitment.

Lewis verbally committed to the Tigers in early August and was one of the 2023 players who enrolled early and was able to participate in bowl prep with the 2022 team. The whispers started early that he fit in immediately and wasn’t taking a back seat during practices.

It wasn’t a surprise that he was one of the freshmen who saw early playing time and has been a part of the rotation for much of the season.

While Terrell has skyrocketed through the depth chart, Lewis has held his own and climbed past players who had more experience. Lewis will compete with Jaedyn Lukus and Toriano Pride for the second starting corner spot next to Terrell in 2023.

It appears that Lewis has passed Pride on the depth chart. Lukus has been injured and presumably will be part of the competition for the starting lineup.

I absolutely will not count Lukus out for this spot, but Lewis will likely be at least an OR starter on the depth chart.
