Dabo Swinney takes responsibility for NC State loss
Head coach Dabo Swinney is putting the responsibility for the poor performance by his team on his shoulders following NC State’s victory over the Tigers.
"“We pour a lot into trying to our best. We pour a lot into trying to win and right now it is not going our way. A lot of days it has but right now it has not. Again, that is my responsibility. We are really, really disappointed. Again, this is a hurt football team.”"
Swinney admits that he does not have an answer.
"“It is just really painful, man. I don’t know what to tell you.”"
My suspicion is that Swinney knows more about the problems than he is letting on, but he isn’t going to throw anyone under the bus while there are still games to be played and his team is still two wins shy of being bowl eligible.
Regarding injuries, Swinney said that doctors were taking X-rays of running back Will Shipley’s neck, but he did not have any updates immediately following the game. Hopefully he will have more information to relay on his call-in show this evening.
Finally, Swinney said this about the outlook for the rest of the season.
"“You can quit and lay down or keep moving and keep swinging. When you’re a competitor, that’s what you’ve got to do. The motivation is to try to win a game and have the best possible finish we can have. Their performance, their effort can’t be tied to a scoreboard. You’ve got to be driven by your performance…regardless of what your record is or who you’re playing.”"
