Momma Etienne goes scorched earth on South Carolina

I think it is realistic to say a significant number of Clemson fans wanted Trevor Etienne to play at Clemson. He wanted to carve his own path separate from his older brother, and I do think most people understood that.

It might be difficult to root for him because he wears a Gator uniform, but when Florida plays South Carolina, I think some fans find it easier to pull for Trevor.

If you need another reason to love any Etienne, look to momma, Donnietta Etienne.

I love that family.

South Carolina dropped the game to Florida 41-39 to fall to 2-4. If you have friends in Columbia or anywhere that wear garnet, now is the time to check in on them.

Elsewhere in Week 7 of college football…

In the ACC, one of the leaders for a spot in the ACC Championship game tripped up against a Pittsburgh team that hadn’t accomplished much this season. Louisville lost to the Panthers 38-21. It was a road game, and turned out to be a trap game following the Cardinals’ win over Notre Dame.

Without Riley Leonard, there was a chance that Duke could slip up against NC State, but unfortunately the Wolfpack was not up to the task. The Blue Devils won 24-3, taking another step towards an ACCCG berth in Mike Elko’s second season.

Wake Forest didn’t make any Clemson fans feel better about last weekend’s close victory. They went to Blacksburg and got rocked by the Hokies 30-13.

Florida State whipped Syracuse 41-3, dropping the Orange to 4-3. Keep in mind Syracuse’s remaining opponents are at Virginia Tech, Boston College, Pittsburgh, at Georgia Tech and Wake Forest. 8-4 is still very achievable.

North Carolina handled Miami 41-31. The ACCCG looks like a three-way battle between the Seminoles, Tar Heels and Blue Devils. Duke visits Chapel Hill on November 11th.

Elsewhere, chaos ensued, and it was fun:

  • Alabama squeaked by Arkansas 24-21
  • Washington beat Oregon 36-33 when a last-second field goal by the Ducks was off target
  • Oklahoma State upset Kansas 39-32 in Stillwater
  • Arizona slammed Washington State on the Palouse 44-6
  • USC’s defense finally broke against Notre Dame 48-20
  • Missouri got the best of Kentucky 38-21
  • Oregon State beat UCLA 36-24. DJ Uiagalelei had two touchdown passes.
