Happy Monday! Here is today’s Clemson Tigers News.

Scoreboard

Clemson Women’s Soccer 1, Virginia Tech 0: The Tigers get a shutout on the road in Blacksburg.

Caroline Conti scored in the 27th minute with an assist from Jenna Tobia.

Head coach Eddie Radwanski complimented the team’s focus and defensive effort in the win:

“This is a good win for us, Virginia Tech is a good team and you are playing them on their home field. I was pleased that we were able to have a little bit more domination of the game, which is difficult to do up here. I like that we created some goal scoring opportunities, we got a good goal and our defensive group was resolute. I thought we kept really good discipline and togetherness and that was enough to get the donut, the shutout and was the key to getting the win.”

Clemson is now tied for 4th on the ACC table with Pittsburgh at 13 points.

The Tigers return to action on Friday at Duke.

Clemson Volleyball loses to Pittsburgh 0-3 (20-25, 21-25, 22-25): The Tigers played a good game but couldn’t quite get over the hump against the Panthers.

Azyah Dailey led the Tigers with ten kills. Mckenna Slavik had 30 assists, which moves her into 3rd place in school history.

The Tigers are now 11-7 overall and 2-4 in the ACC. They are back in action Friday against Miami in Jervey Gym.

Dabo Swinney comments on effort from Clemson Football against Wake Forest

Head coach Dabo Swinney complimented his team’s effort in a close win against Wake Forest on Saturday:

"“Today we were very, very gritty and found a way to win and lost the turnover margin. So, hopefully that’s, again, a sign of just that we’re turning a little bit. But, I’m really proud of our team, just took another step today. Our goal was to just find a way to win, and we did that.”"

Comments like this don’t always sit well with fans, but one of the things a coach has to do is find the best way to move forward. Notice he didn’t compliment the game plan or the execution of the game plan. While some might take exception to the comment that their goal was just to find a win, I think you can interpret that as just finding a win when the team clearly isn’t playing their best football.
