Clemson Football: Five things we learned about the Tigers vs Charleston Southern

Dabo Swinney isn’t changing anything because of what you think
Dabo Swinney has faced a lot of criticism following the Duke loss. Clemson fans as well as national voices have been critical of his continued reluctance to use the portal in any meaningful way.
Those criticisms might be fair. They might not be fair. The one thing that continues to be a constant is that Swinney does not care.
I don’t mean that as a swipe at Swinney, simply an observation that Swinney is not the kind of person who is going to melt under pressure from his fanbase and start to worry that the natives are restless.
Swinney had some fun commenting about what some people had said about him over the past week in his postgame press conference. He might not have been so jovial had the second half not made the margin of victory more comfortable, but he still would have commented about it.
Swinney might change his philosophy on the transfer portal. He might change his philosophy on the way the program uses NIL. He might change his philosophy on the way he has prioritized the culture of the program in his decision-making on recruiting and coaching staff changes.
He just isn’t going to make any of those changes because of what you think, or what I think, or what anyone else thinks.
If he makes a change, it is because he has reached a conclusion that a change is needed based on the criteria that he values.
That may upset you, but he did warn you:
"“You don’t worry about criticism from people that you wouldn’t seek advice from.”"
