Clemson Football: The Good, the Bad, and the Sus – Charleston Southern edition
By John Chancey
The Sus
Mistakes happen, and teams must do their best to shake them off and move forward. The team, and specifically Klubnik, did exactly that today and delivered a very different second half.
The Tigers could do little wrong in the third quarter, and the backups and reserves kept the ball rolling in the fourth quarter.
I’ll remind you there were some games over the past four seasons when Clemson would roll with the starters, but when the second and third-strings entered the game, the scoring ground to a halt. It felt good to see the backups have success.
I just can’t get past these mistakes. I had hoped that Labor Day was a fluke, but today proved that this team is sloppy. That ultimately is on the coaches.
Even on the biggest positive play of the day, Collins started slowing up and celebrating early, and he was almost caught from behind. Poor judgement, and he got an earful from Dabo Swinney about it.
This team isn’t just having bad luck. They are making mental mistakes, especially Klubnik.
Is it correctable? Probably, but I worry these bad decisions and the lack of concentration will continue to cost the Tigers as this season progresses.
This team does have potential though. It’s going to be a week to week situation for the Tigers this season.
