Clemson Tigers News: Isaiah Simmons, Men’s Basketball and scoreboard
By John Chancey
Good morning, Tiger Nation! Here is Friday’s Clemson Tigers News
Scoreboard
Clemson Men’s Soccer 1, UCF 2: Not the result Clemson United was hoping for in their season opener.
Things started well for the Tigers as they earned a penalty kick within the first minute. Ousmane Sylla drove the ball home for the 1-0 lead.
Following UCF’s equalizer, Clemson received a red card and had to play the balance of the game with 10 players. UCF eventually took the lead. Clemson was called for 26 fouls on the evening, with only 10 against UCF.
Clemson Women’s Soccer2, Utah Valley 1: The Tigers get a victory out west against a good Utah Valley squad, and the freshmen had a night.
Dani Davis scored her first goal for Clemson just inside the second half, and the red-hot Jenna Tobia scored her second of the year.

The Volleyball team will be giving out a pair of arm sleeves to the first 500 fans who arrive at Jervey.
Isaiah Simmons is now a New York Giant
Clemson Football alum Isaiah Simmons was entering the final season of his contract with the Arizona Cardinals after they elected to decline his fifth-year option earlier this spring. Now he will play that final contract year with a new team.
The Cardinals traded Simmons to the New York Giants on Thursday for a seventh-round draft pick.
This move reunites Simmons with Dexter Lawrence, who just signed a new contract with the Giants this offseason.
While Simmons production was not equal to what the Cardinals needed to take the fifth year of his contract (worth roughly $12.7 million), he is well worth the value of a seventh-round pick.
Clemson Men’s Basketball Injury Updates
Head coach Brad Brownell and some of his team met with the media Thursday and brought everyone up to speed on some injury concerns.
Schieffelin’s injury is bad timing but probably won’t impact him too much. Hemenway’s situation is a little more worrisome. It might not be as much of a concern if Air Force transfer guard Jake Heidbreder played in 2023-22, but that apparently hasn’t been decided either.
Then there is this update on NC State transfer Jack Clark.
The Tigers play an exhibition against Newberry College before starting their regular season on November 6th against Winthrop.
