Kelley, nicknamed Tink, was a bit of a mystery from the second he committed to the Tigers. Upon his announcement, it was suggested that he would probably play cornerback long-term, but for the time being, he would be working out with the wide receivers.

Some observers, as well as yours truly, suspected he would spend 2023 as a redshirt in the wide receiver room and then move into the defensive backs room next season. That assumption has a couple of things going against it right now.

First, Kelley has already spent some time with the defensive backs. He hasn’t moved completely but instead is already cross-training. Swinney has expressed that he could play DB if needed.

Second, he is getting praise from the coaches and his teammates for his play in fall camp. While Brown has been mentioned the most, Kelley’s presence is often mentioned at the same time.

For those reasons, I have him in the middle right now. I would not be surprised at all if he ends up redshirting in 2023, but because there are two areas he could be called to help, the odds are doubled that circumstances could result in him playing more than four games.
