Remember when Kirk Herbstreit said Clemson had an ‘embarrassment of riches’? Herbstreit was talking about the running backs and the offense at the time, but today the depth is found in the defensive tackle room.

Nick Eason’s first big recruit for the Tigers was 4-star tackle Caden Story. On many teams, he would have played as a true freshman. At Clemson, he was a lock for a redshirt.

Sometimes players are just too good to keep off the field, and Woods is one of those players. Every time he steps on the field, he flashes talent and a motor that sets the pace for the players around him.

Outside of injury, there won’t be much drama regarding Woods’s status. He will play as a true freshman, and not just during garbage time. He will get snaps early and often. Given Tyler Davis’s injury concerns the past two seasons, getting him relief will be important, and Woods will likely be that guy.

247Sports’s Cooper Petagna says this of Woods:

"“Explosive player that can be used in multiple defensive alignments and has some situational pass-rushing ability off the edge. More than likely projects to playing with his hand in the ground at the next level. Possesses an excellent motor with the combination of good physical traits. Will need a year to develop at the next level, but has the ability to develop into a high impact starter at the collegiate level.”"
