Christopher Vizzina

  • Number: 17
  • Position: Quarterback
  • Height: 6’-4”
  • Weight: 210 pounds
  • High School: Briarwood Christian School
  • Hometown: Birmingham, Alabama
  • 247Sports Rating: 4-star
  • 247Sports Ranking: 109th

Vizzina is a highly rated quarterback, and his commitment to Clemson Football has been noted as a reason why Clemson missed on all the targets they offered at the position in the Class of 2024.

Vizzina might develop into a very good player, but the brief moments we’ve seen him in the Spring Game and the reviews we have heard in fall camp indicate that he needs time to acclimate to the college game. He isn’t ready to lead the Tigers yet.

Coach Swinney has already publicly stated that the team would like to redshirt Vizzina so he can continue to learn without losing eligibility. He can, and likely will, make a few appearances and then shut it down unless injuries cause the other three quarterbacks – Cade Klubnik, Hunter Helms, and Paul Tyson – to miss time.

Helms is already coping with a foot injury. Hopefully, that will resolve quickly and Vizzina can redshirt as planned. The last thing the Tigers want to do is rush Vizzina onto the field before he is comfortable and ready.
