Lastly, Clemson Football takes to Death Valley for a scrimmage, but it will not be open to the public.
The ACC was very close to adding schools this week
It has now been revealed that the Atlantic Coast Conference was painfully close to adding schools a few days ago. The league had eleven schools in favor of adding Stanford and California, which is only one vote shy. The four schools opposing were Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina and North Carolina State.
The four ACC schools that opposed the additions of Stanford and Cal at the Wed. night presidents’ meeting were Florida State, Clemson, North Carolina and North Carolina State, source confirms to @TheAthletic. Would need to flip one of the four to get to 12 yes votes out of 15.

It is not clear if the eleven who favored adding Stanford and Cal also favored adding SMU.
One of the eleven in favor was Notre Dame, who despite not joining as a full member had full voting rights on adding full members.
ND AD Jack Swarbrick told me the reason they advocated for Cal and Stanford was because “The notion that two of the very best academic institutions in the world who also play D1 sports could be abandoned in this latest chapter of realignment is an indictment of college athletics. https://t.co/b3rhc6Bd2A

Clemson Football’s opening opponent was bit by the injury bug this week
The opening opponent for Clemson Football got a bad break his week. Returning wide receiver Eli Pancol, who started for the Duke Blue Devils last season, will miss significant time due to a lower body injury that required surgery. Pancol unfortunately dealt with lower body injuries last season as well. We don’t know if it is related to previous injuries.
While his absence will be felt by the Blue Devils, they still have a veteran offense led by quarterback Riley Leonard.
