Two Clemson Football opponents have transfers who have been denied eligibility in 2023
While it seemed the transfer portal had been opened wide by the NCAA, it looks like they have decided to tighten their standards a bit.
While one time transfers are allowed with immediate eligibility, some two time transfers have been denied their appeals with the NCAA to play immediately.
This means unless something changes quickly, they will not be able to play this season, and will have to wait for 2024.
The first denied appeal revealed on Tuesday was Florida State’s Darrell Jackson, a defensive tackle transferring from Miami after spending his freshman season at Maryland.

Then came word later in the day that North Carolina’s Tez Walker had also been denied his waiver for immediate eligibility.
Major news for Carolina: Tez Walker’s waiver for immediate eligibility has been denied. UNC is trying to appeal the decision by the NCAA. This comes a day after Walker was named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list.

Walker, who played high school ball at West Charlotte High School, transferred to Kent State following the cancellation of North Carolina Central’s season in 2020. UNC is continuing to try to get the decision reversed.
Both Jackson and Walker were expected to be key contributors for the Seminoles and Tar Heels, respectively, this season.
Clemson Men’s Basketball has a new opponent
Clemson announced Tuesday that the Men’s Basketball team will begin a home and home series with the Memphis Tigers later this year. Clemson will visit Memphis on December 16th. Memphis will then visit Littlejohn Coliseum in the 2024-25 season.
Memphis has won at least twenty games every season that Anfernee Hardaway has been their head coach, so this seems to be a good game to add to boost the non-conference schedule.
Fans have been patiently waiting for the return of EA Sports College Football and have been hoping there would not be any more delays. Fans got a little reassurance from On3 yesterday that the rug will not be pulled out from under their feet again.
“We’re incredibly excited to bring back an authentic college football experience for fans and athletes that have shown such passion for the franchise, and we’re looking forward to delivering it in Summer 2024."

If true, fans of the game will finally get their wish in about one year. Keep your fingers crossed all the realignment doesn’t cause them to reorganize everything and delay it!
