Who will start at left tackle?

Clemson fans were down in the dumps on January 2, 2021, following Clemson’s loss to Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl. Suddenly that morning Crystal Balls started rolling in for the Tigers to get a commitment from 5-star prospect Leigh. He did announce his commitment later that day.

Since then Leigh hasn’t seen the field much. He needed time to develop. His senior season of high school football was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He put the time in at power hour and it sounds like he is ready to be a contributor.

One of the reasons he was so highly rated as a prospect is because his measurables suggested he could play left tackle, one of the most important positions on the team. It is ideal for the Tigers if Leigh grabs that starting spot and holds onto it.

The other options are for Tate to move over from left guard, for Miller to move from right tackle, or for Sadler to step in. Tate might be a better fit at tackle, but he can play guard. Leigh can’t necessarily play guard. Miller seemed to settle in nicely at right tackle, so I think the inclination is to keep him there. It sounds like they like Sadler, possibly because he does have the versatility to play both positions.
