What position does Peter Woods play for Clemson Football?

The big name of the Class of 2023 freshmen joining the team this season has been Woods. Fans were excited during his recruitment, thrilled when he chose Clemson, and then even more impressed with his play in all-star games and for the Tigers in the spring.

Woods is often compared to Christian Wilkins for a few reasons. He is talented and will likely get snaps early in his career. Like Wilkins, Woods is not a prototype at either defensive line position. Wilkins mostly played tackle, but when there were injuries at end, and a freshman Dexter Lawrence proved more than adequate at tackle, Wilkins moved to the end position to put the best four players in the lineup.

Like Wilkins, Woods is probably more suited for tackle, but as we mentioned, there are a lot of players competing for snaps at tackle. There is less depth at the end position, and therefore more opportunities for Woods.

Additionally, the Tigers haven’t been beholden to a 4-3 scheme over the years and have been more multiple. Woods would make a good option at end in a 3-4 or 3-3-5 formation.

Right now, trying to predict where we will see Woods is a challenge.
