Here are a handful of other options if Clemson Football hosts ESPN College GameDay

Brian Dawkins

This makes so much sense. Dawkins is Clemson’s lone player inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He is a well-known name who is easily recognized by football fans. He covers both needs for a Guest Picker.

Lucas Glover

It’s common for alumni who played other sports to show up at their university’s GameDays. Glover is probably Clemson’s most recognizable player from the PGA Tour. He has a major under his belt from the 2009 US Open.

William Perry

This man is a legend, and not just in Clemson. He is probably more famous nationally as a defensive tackle with the Chicago Bears who had a side hustle as a running back and a singer on The Super Bowl Shuffle. He would be a fantastic choice. ESPN always wants their Guest Pickers to be known to their wider audience, and the Fridge fits that description.

Valerie Cagle

If ESPN wants the crowd to go crazy for the Guest Picker, then all they need to do is invite the 2023 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year to the stage. She would be a wonderful representative of the university and her sport, which is growing by leaps and bounds. She might not have the nationwide name recognition of Ford, Perry or Dawkins, but the scene would be insane and make an impression.
