Corian Gipson commits to Clemson Football by FaceTiming Dabo Swinney

Corian Gipson is a member of Clemson’s Class of 2024. He is a rising senior at Lakeland High School in Texas. He committed just yesterday, but the way he announced his choice is already very memorable.

Gipson is a 4-star in the 247Sports Composite ranking, and currently the 67th overall recruit. Gipson kept the information about his recruitment close to home and didn’t give out a lot of information. What was known was that he liked Clemson’s program, but he also liked the home state team, the Texas Longhorns, who had been recruiting very well.

While key members of the college recruiting insider industry had projected Gipson to Clemson, there was still intrigue as his announcement commenced. Several family members, friends, and coaches spoke to Gipson and shared their experiences with the assembled crowd.

Finally, Gipson began his announcement but paused to get out his phone. While the crowd at the arena and the viewers on Youtube tried to figure out if he was pulling up a prepared statement or taking a selfie, Gipson hit a few buttons and then held the phone up to the microphone.

The voice on the other end was none other than head coach Dabo Swinney.

The crowd in the arena knew the voice too, and the applause began. Gipson was a Tiger, and he announced it by FaceTiming Coach Swinney during his ceremony.
