Nothing beats Clemson Football games in the fall, but recruiting has become a huge part of the college football landscape. It used to be something only coaches and players were concerned about, but fans have taken to recruiting the way NFL fans have taken to the draft process.

It’s big money these days, in more ways than one. I’m not sure how Hayes Fawcett cornered the announcement market on Twitter and Instagram, but he has built himself a nice business creating graphics for commitments, top school releases, and even decommitments. Rivals, 247Sports, and On3 all cover recruiting closely. Even ESPN has a division dedicated to it.

For fans, it comes down to the excitement of the moment. When the recruit takes the microphone and announces his decision, or when their video drops on social media, fans tune in.

Sometimes we know who the prospect will choose because the professionals who follow the recruiting beat have inside information. Sometimes the recruit and his family are tight-lipped and we have no idea what to expect. Sometimes, even the insiders get it wrong.

Sometimes the announcements are straightforward and simple. Sometimes there are shenanigans with cap-throwing and misleading t-shirts. Sometimes prospects put some money into a very polished announcement video. Sometimes a recruit comes up with a truly unique way to make the moment special for everyone.

Here are the five most memorable announcements from Clemson Football recruits.
