The success Clemson Football has experienced over the past decade has always involved great play from their defensive ends, so it is satisfying to see the Tigers continue to reload at that position.

Clemson has received another commitment for the Class off 2023 from defensive end prospect Adam Kissayi from Palm Bay, Florida.

Kissayi is 6’-7.5” and 230 pounds. He is preparing to begin his senior season at Heritage High School. He is rated as a 3-star in the 247Sports Composite.

Kissayi committed to the Minnesota Golden Gophers in June following his official visit to Minneapolis. He decommitted recently, then announced that Clemson had offered him a scholarship on July 13.

Kissayi is the second defensive end commit for the Class of 2024. Darrien Mayo from Olney, Maryland committed in June.

Kissayi announced 19 total scholarship offers, including Michigan, Miami, Nebraska and Utah.

Kissayi grew up playing soccer before picking up football. He even played quarterback for a period of time.

Here is Kissayi’s Hudl highlights.

  • Kissayi is tall, but at his current weight he is slender. When he crouches down in a three-point stance, he is very compact. This makes him quite explosive off the line of scrimmage.
  • Kissayi’s speed in the open field is evident as well. He chases down players from behind from his defensive end position.
  • He already has several moves that he uses to rush the quarterback. He does get physical, but he definitely relies on speed and technique to beat his opponent.
  • He also lines up at tight end on offense.

Adam Kissayi will need time to develop with Clemson Football

The obvious question for Kissayi will be how his development at Clemson impacts his abilities. At his height and weight, he is slender. He will need to develop his size and strength when he arrives. The obvious question is if he can maintain his speed and explosiveness as he gets bigger and stronger.

Clemson still has two offers out to uncommitted prospects. Eddrick Houston of Buford, Georgia is debating Clemson, Ohio State and Georgia. He plans to announce his commitment at August 22nd. Solomon Williams of Tampa, Florida is expected to wait longer before announcing his destination.
