Clemson Football: The 2023 Tiger football games most likely to host College GameDay
By John Chancey
Clemson at South Carolina
Other options: Alabama at Auburn, Ohio State at Michigan
Most likely to host GameDay: Alabama at Auburn
This is Rivalry Weekend, and even though this game is the biggest in the Palmetto State, typically there are higher profile options around the nation. This year, however, options are somewhat limited.
Some games that might hold interest, such as Ole Miss at Mississippi State, TCU at Oklahoma, and Oregon State at Oregon are on either Thursday (Thanksgiving) or Friday.
Outside of the two biggest college football rivalries listed above, the other rivalries aren’t clearly better than Clemson at South Carolina. It has big-name quarterbacks in Cade Klubnik and Spencer Rattler. It has the drama of the 2022 Gamecocks ending the Tigers’ seven-game winning streak in the series and their forty-game winning streak in Death Valley.
Alas, the Iron Bowl is just more likely to win out here. “The Game” is, as usual, scheduled for noon, and there is a high probability that FOX will be live with their show in Ann Arbor. Even though Auburn probably won’t be challenging for the SEC West title, the allure of Hugh Freeze against Nick Saban is going to be too difficult to overcome.
