Clemson Football: The 2023 Tiger football games most likely to host College GameDay
By John Chancey
Clemson at NC State
Other options: Ohio State at Wisconsin, Oregon at Utah, Georgia vs Florida
Most likely to host GameDay: Oregon at Utah
I am higher on NC State than most people this season. I think Brennan Armstrong stands a good chance to make a big comeback after reuniting with offensive play-caller Robert Anae. Outside of an early game against Notre Dame, State has a manageable schedule leading up to this game.
There is also the angle of Clemson returning to Carter-Finley Stadium, where they lost in two overtimes in 2021.
The other factor in favor of this choice is that there aren’t a lot of obvious choices, at least from our vantage point in the preseason. Wisconsin is breaking in a new head coach. New head coach Luke Fickell and new offensive coordinator Phil Longo might have Wiscy back in contention right away, or it might take a little time. Georgia vs Florida sounds good, but I’m not sure many expect the Gators to be ready to beat the two-time defending national champion this year.
From where we stand right now, the top choice would be the Ducks visiting Salt Lake City. Utah is the defending PAC-12 champ, and Bo Nix returns to lead Oregon. This could be a preview of the conference championship game.
