Rebuilding is not always a linear process.  Clemson Women’s Basketball found themselves down by 29 at the half Sunday against Louisville and it would have been easy to give up and mail it in at that point.

But the Tigers didn’t give up or mail it in and instead rallied to make a game of it in the second half, before falling short by a score of 81-69.

Amari Robinson led three Tigers in double figures with 16 points, while Ruby Whitehorn tallied 14 and Ale’Jah Douglas scored 11, all in the second half.

Daisha Bradford led Clemson with nine rebounds.

The Tigers actually led early at 4-3 at the 7:40 mark of the first quarter, but then went 3:59 without a point as the Cardinals took the lead and pulled away to lead 20-8 after the first period.

It was bombs away for the Cardinals in the second period as they made 7 three-pointers in outscoring the Tigers 31-14, pushing their cushion to 51-22 at the half.

Clemson faired much better in the second half, outscoring Louisville 21-15 in the third quarter and 26-15 in the final stanza, but couldn’t get enough stops to close the gap.

Louisville shot 48.4% from the field, including 12-24 from three-point range, while the Tigers shot 43.8% from the field and were only 1-8 behind the arc, which means Louisville had a 36-3 advantage on threes.

Clemson drops to 14-13 on the season and 5-10 in ACC play.

The Tigers have 3 regular season games left and will travel to Miami Thursday for a 6:00 p.m. matchup with the Hurricanes.
