Clemson Men’s Basketball: Tigers tumble to Tar Heels, 91-71
Looking at the final score, you may be surprised to know that Clemson Men’s Basketball led for most of the first 10 minutes of Saturday’s game in Chapel Hill.
After that the Tar Heels were better and more athletic in every way, not to mention more prepared and more energetic.
Yet, the Tigers hung close and down 37-31 a Brevin Galloway steal put the Tigers in a position to cut the lead to 4, or even 3 in the case of a three-point shot.
That was not to be as Galloway fired up an ill-advised three 7 seconds into the shot clock without waiting for other, perhaps higher percentage options.
Just over 2 minutes later Clemson found themselves down by 9 at the half.
That first half was one in which Tigers star Hunter Tyson managed 2 field goal attempts and 3 points.
It got worse after halftime as Tyson finished the day with those 2 field goal attempts in 32 minutes on the court.
The Tar Heels lit it up from three, shooting 45.5% on 33 long range bombs and while some of those came when the game was out of reach, there were early daggers from Caleb Love and R.J. Davis that crushed the Tigers spirts.
North Carolina scored four points in the first 41 second of the second half and the game was over and it was a matter of playing out the clock.
With three consecutive winnable games ahead Clemson Men’s Basketball has used all of their Mulligans
Looking forward for Clemson they have three consecutive games they’ll likely be favored in and must win all three to keep any NCAA Tournament hopes alive.
On the ESPN broadcast today they mentioned that Clemson would likely drop to “Last Four In” with a loss and that means another “bad” loss dooms this once promising team.
The first of those three is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. as the Tigers host the Florida State Seminoles in Littlejohn Coliseum.
