Clemson Football: Former Tiger Martavis Bryant on XFLs Vegas Vipers roster
Former Clemson football wide receiver Martavis Bryant was listed on the roster of the Vegas Vipers when it was released on Friday afternoon.
The 6’4, 211-pound Bryant was a fourth-round selection of the Steelers in the 2014 NFL Draft, going No. 118 overall.
Bryant played in 44 NFL games with the Steelers and Raiders between 2014 and 2018, catching 145 passes for 2,183 yards and 17 touchdowns.
On March 14, 2016, the NFL suspended Bryant for the entire 2016 NFL season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
Bryant was traded to the Raiders for a third-round pick on April 26, 2018.
Bryant was again suspended by the NFL on December 14, 2018, this time indefinitely, for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement.
Bryant signed with the Toronto Argonauts (2021) and Edmonton Elks (2022) of the Canadian Football League, but was released by both teams before ever playing a game.
Last spring Bryant played for the FCF Beast in the Fan Controlled Football League, a team owned by Marshawn Lynch, Todd Gurley and others where he had 8 catches for 93 yards and 2 touchdowns in 4 games.
Bryant was selected with the 5th pick in the 2023 XFL Skill Players Draft.
Bryant played at Clemson from 2011 to 2013 catching 61 passes for 1,354 yards and 13 touchdowns and returned 14 kickoffs for 291 yards (20.8 average) as the Tigers began their run to greatness.
Clemson compiled a 32-8 record during Bryant’s three years with the program.
Clemson football had 6 wide receivers from the 2012 team play in the NFL
As a sophomore, Bryant had 10 catches for 305 yards and 4 touchdowns on a college team with perhaps the most NFL talent ever as 6 Clemson wide receivers from that team played in the NFL, including DeAndre Hopkins, Sammy Watkins, Adam Humphries, Jaron Brown, Charone Peake and Bryant.
Those six receivers have combined for 1,820 catches, 23,956 yards and 151 touchdowns in the NFL.
The Vegas Renegades are coached by Rod Woodson and are scheduled to open their season on Saturday, February 18th on the road against the Arlington Renegades.
