It may be “offseason” for Clemson football, but one has to wonder if there really is such a thing as the offseason these days.

With basketball in full swing, softball around one corner, and baseball around another, Clemson football is still the week’s No. 1, 2 and 3 stories on this site.

Coming in at third was the commitment of 4-star defensive lineman Champ Thompson to the Tigers late Saturday night, which was posted Sunday morning.

You can never have too many quality defensive linemen and Thompson got the ball rolling right in the middle of Clemson’s Elite Junior Day event.

The second most read story of the week involved Dabo Swinney not being happy with all of the fans, especially the “fanatics of the lunatic fringe”, as John Chancey put it in the article.

It’s a bit of a double-edged sword for Dabo, as he set the standard and often uses the motto of “Best is the Standard”, which is plastered all over the Clemson facilities.

At times, fans and Dabo disagree on what that saying means.

The No. 1 story this week on the site was Clemson missing out on quarterback Walker White of Arkansas to Auburn.  This last-minute flip caught recruiting analysts and fans by surprise.

While many have speculated NIL played a role in White’s apparent change of heart, the reality is at Clemson he would be in a room with at least Cade Klubnik and Chris Vizzina ahead of him, whereas at Auburn there is a clearer path toward the QB1 spot.

Clemson football is off to a good start on the Class of 2024

Clemson is still off to a good start with the Class of 2024, but will need to shift it focus to another quarterback and when you offer one or two prospects at a time per position, these types of misses often seen worse than they often are.

If the last week showed anything, it’s that football is still the king of content, even in February around a signing day without any drama whatsoever.
