Clemson Football: 4-star safety Noah Dixon commits to the Tigers
By John Chancey
Clemson Football has received their second commitment of the past week.
Noah Dixon of Lagrange, Georgia announced his verbal commitment to Clemson on Twitter.
Dixon is a 4-star safety prospect that plays for Troup County High School. He is ranked 195th nationally in the 247Sports Composite.
Dixon’s announcement comes on the heels of Champ Thompson’s commitment on Saturday night.
Dixon checks in at 6’-2” and 185 pounds, which is a good size for an incoming freshman safety.
247’s Anna Adams, who follows Clemson sports closely, entered a Crystal Ball for Dixon on Sunday night. She commented today that Dixon has kept his recruitment private, and had not given indication that a commitment might be eminent. Adam’s projection, however, does indicate that Dixon’s visit this past weekend for Clemson’s Elite Junior Day was impactful.
Clemson now has five commitments for 2024. Dixon and Thompson join Tavoy Feagin, Nolan Hauser, and Christian Bentancur in the class. All five of them were present at Elite Junior Day this past weekend.
Dixon plays two-ways for Troup County, but projects as a strong safety for Clemson Football
Dixon played both offense and defense for Troup County (also called the Tigers) as a junior. His Hudl highlights start with Dixon going man-to-man with an inside receiver, successfully breaking up the pass. There are several examples of Dixon defending against the run, making tackles in open space. Considering his instincts defending against the run, Dixon strikes me as a strong safety prospect playing in the box more than free safety.
Dixon played wide receiver on offense and his highlights on that side of the ball show off his athleticism. He was able to bring in deep passes as well as take screens and passes in the flat for several yards after first contact. In one highlight, Dixon lined up at tight end in a three-point stance, exploded off the line at the snap, and went deep down the seam for big reception to get the Tigers into the red zone.
We don’t know if there will be any more commitments that will come directly from the Elite Junior Weekend. Adams has entered Crystal Ball projections for quarterback Walker White, wide receiver Braylon Staley, and linebacker Drew Woodaz.
