You would think things would slow down a bit on the Clemson football front after the loss in the Orange Bowl and the Class of 2023 being pretty much wrapped up.

You would be wrong as football is still the big sport in Clemson despite the basketball team’s meteoric rise.

The 3rd most read story on the site this week was a piece by John Chancey discussing that the hire of Garrett Riley proves Dabo is willing to change, something so many Clemson fans and others thought he would never do.

The 2nd most-read story of the week was related – the hiring of Garrett Riley.  The interesting part for me was how fast all of this happened, from the firing of Brandon Streeter to word getting out about the Riley hiring, was about two and a half hours and later that night Riley was on a plane to Clemson.

Once again, Dabo was two steps ahead of the Twitter mob, not only making the decision to move on, but already having an understanding with his replacement without the news being leaked.

Clemson football has hired a new offensive coordinator, but they also need to recruit and develop players at a higher level

The top story of the week on RubbingTheRock.com was the takeaways from the National Championship Game between Georgia and TCU.

No, not the ridiculousness that TCU only scored 7 so Riley sucks, but rather the team Georgia put on the field that showed playmakers all over the field for the Bulldogs, something the Tigers have lacked for the last two seasons.

The cold hard truth of college football is that while coaching can lose a game, it’s much harder for them to win a game if their personnel doesn’t match up to that on the other side.

Clemson has recruited pretty good over the last several years, but Georgia has been elite while simultaneously developing complimentary players that equal a huge edge over most teams.

There was a time when you could say the same thing about Clemson, but that hasn’t been true over the last two seasons.

Next. Tigers earning respect game by game. dark
