With another season of Clemson football in the books, I find myself a tad melancholy, wondering what I’m going to write about next.

Maybe it’s the way the season ended, or how the Orange Bowl went.  Maybe, I’m too old to appreciate the ways in which college football is changing.

I’m not sure what it is, but I feel a little less excited about this offseason than I have others recently.

I’m sure I’ll be fine as time marches on, I mean there’s a basketball game tomorrow night and the Tigers could move to 4-0 in the ACC for the first time since – where’s Tim Bourret when you need him – I don’t know how long.

There’s also the prospect of new beginnings and new hope with Erik Bakich’s baseball team only 6 weeks or so from taking the field at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, that I am legitimately stoked in anticipation for.

I’m looking forward to basketball and baseball, but 4 days into the offseason I miss Clemson football

My expectations for the basketball team are tempered, especially if Alex Hemenway is unable to get healthy, but they’ve been a fun watch, they actually score points and have some style.

I realize the baseball program is in overhaul mode, changing from one style to another isn’t typically something that happens seamlessly, overnight and linear.  There’ll be ups and downs as Bakich molds the team into his vision of what they should be.

Here’s hoping Omaha isn’t just a memory the younger generation never gets to experience.

Yes, there’ll be recruiting, the NFL Draft, spring practice and the spring game, among many other football topics that I could chime in on, but those are all ancillary to the games, the 12 (or 13, 14, or 15) times a year that the Tigers take the field with the paw on their helmets.

It’s been four days and I already miss the anticipation of what game day will bring.
