Clemson Tigers News: Future Tigers shine, destination unknown
Last week we brought you the news that future Clemson football players Peter Woods and Chris Vizzina starred in their All-Star game and this week, we’ve got future Tigers that are a bit closer to where the Blue Ridge yawns its greatness balling out against All-Star competition in the Shrine Bowl.
Tyler Brown, a 3-star wide receiver and Clemson commit from Greenville High, caught a 55-yard touchdown pass from LaNorris Sellers.
It was Brown’s only reception on the day with two targets.
Recent Clemson running back commitment Jarvis Green was the leading rusher for South Carolina in the game, totaling 58 yards on 15 carries and scoring a touchdown.
That means Clemson commitments scored both touchdowns for South Carolina in the game.
Green also had 3 receptions for 8 yards in the game (3 targets).
While his destination still remains unknown, it appears the chances of D.J. Uiagalelei landing at UCLA were reduced on Saturday.
How are we to interpret this? Some have Uiagalelei as high as the second or third-best player available in the portal and he obviously plays a prime position. Yet, UCLA opts for a MAC quarterback? Interesting to say the least.
While I love D.J., I think he’s overrated in the portal at No. 2 or 3.
While Clemson football prepares for the Orange Bowl, anticipation around Clemson baseball is raising every day
The hype is building around Clemson baseball and Erik Bakich’s debut season as the Tigers head coach.
My Sluggo Podcast partner, Casey Cregan and I are incredibly excited to see what the new year and new faces will bring.
Part of it is the different style the Tigers will embrace under Bakich and there’s also the element of former Clemson players, not to mention Monte Lee, now at South Carolina. That creates an interesting sub-plot for the annual series between the two teams which will take place March 3-5 this season with South Carolina designated as home team for the Saturday game at Fluor Field in Greenville.
It’s much more than that three-game series though. Clemson baseball has lost its way over the last decade and it’s time to get back to where the program needs to be.
