Clemson Football: Jarvis Green commits to Tigers
By John Chancey
Clemson Football has received a verbal commitment from a 2023 player that has many Tiger fans very happy.
Running back Jarvis Green from Irmo, South Carolina announced his commitment today to Clemson. He played football at Dutch Fork High School.
Green is a 3-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is listed as 5’-9.5” and 192 pounds. He is listed as the 23rd-best player in the state, but that didn’t stop him from being named the South Carolina High School Football Player of the Year by MaxPreps.
Green rushed for over 2,000 yards and had 33 rushing touchdowns in 2022 while adding six touchdown receptions. He also returned kicks for Dutch Fork, who won their sixth state title in the last seven years.
Green verbally committed to James Madison in August. At that time he hadn’t received any offers from Power Five programs. Several Clemson fans have expressed that they would love to see Green join the Tigers.
Clemson offered him on December 8th, and the next day he elected to de-commit from JMU.
When you watch Green’s Hudl highlights, you will likely see what most people say about him: he isn’t the biggest running back you’ve seen, and he doesn’t stand out as the fastest guy you’ve seen. Despite this, he is hard to take down and defenders seem to have a hard time getting their hands on him.
Clemson Football may have found a diamond in the rough in Green
The more you watch, you start to notice the little things he does – a head fake here, a stutter step there. Other times he simply powers through tackles to extend plays and rack up the yards after contact. For his size, he is very difficult to bring down.
Green will be joining former Silver Fox teammates Will Taylor and Antonio Williams at Clemson. Clemson isn’t likely done with running backs for 2023. Jamarius Haynes of Roanoke, Alabama also holds a Clemson offer. Haynes plans to announce his decision when the Early Signing Period opens on December 21st.
Clemson Football will likely wrap up most, if not all, of their 2023 high school class in the Early Signing Period, and then move on to the Class of 2024.
