Clemson Women’s Basketball: Tigers dominate Western Carolina

Clemson Women’s Basketball moved to 8-3 on the season with a dominant wire-to-wire win over Western Carolina Saturday in Littlejohn Coliseum in an 81-42 win.

After an early tie at 2, the Tigers dominated the last 6:40 of the first quarter and ended the first period up 24-6 and never looked back against the 5-6 Catamounts.

The lead grew to 27 by the half and continued to get bigger as the Tigers outscored Western Carolina in every quarter of the game.

Daisha Bradford led the Tigers in scoring with a career-high of 22 points, while Brie Perpignan and Amar Robinson chipped in 16 points apiece.

All 9 Tigers that saw the floor scored, with Ruby Whitehorn adding 7, Makayla Elmore 6, Hannah Hank and Madi Ott 5 and Weronika Hipp and Kionna Gaines 2 each.

Robinson led the Tigers with 11 rebounds, Whitehorn had 8 assists and Bradford 5 steals.

Clemson shot 50.8% from the field, 29.6% from three-point range and 84.6% on 13 free-throws on the day.

Meanwhile, Western hit only 29.4% of their shots from the field, 25.0% from three-point range and 63.6% of their 11 free throws.

Clemson shot better, outrebounded the Catamounts, had twice as many assists (20 to 10), had 11 steals and only 8 turnovers.

Western had only 2 steals and turned the ball over 19 times in the game.

Clemson women’s basketball has the week off before travelling to Raleigh next Saturday

Clemson has the week off for finals before taking on No. 8 North Carolina State next Sunday, December 18th, in Raleigh on the ACC Network in their first ACC game of the season.

Following that game, the Tigers host non-conference foe Radford on December 20th in Clemson, before embarking on 17 straight ACC contests, including matchups at home with No. 7 Virginia Tech, No. 5 Notre Dame and No. 8 North Carolina.

The Tigers are looking to improve upon a 10-21 mark in 2021-2022, which saw them go 3-15 in the ACC which saw them win only 1 ACC road game (at Wake Forest) and beat only 2 ACC teams overall, as they beat Wake Forest twice and Syracuse once.
