Clemson Men’s Basketball had to rally in the 2nd half, but ultimately overcame the more-than-game Towson Tigers Wednesday night in Littlejohn Coliseum.

Clemson once again shot well from the field, hitting 53.8% of their shots, but were specifically deadly from three-point range at 60.9%.

P.J. Hall scored 22 points to lead the Tigers, while Hunter Tyson totaled 20 points and 14 boards in a dominating performance.

Alex Hemenway (15) and Chase Hunter (14) also scored in double figures on the evening.

Hunter led the Clemson Tigers with 7 assists.

Clemson started both halves a bit slow, trailing early before taking a 37-35 halftime lead and then falling behind by 6 a little over three and a half minutes into the second half.

Despite a size disadvantage Towson outrebounded Clemson and made shot after shot during the middle part of the game.

Clemson’s size, tenacity and shooting ability ultimately took over as the Tigers shot 57.7% from the field in the second half, including 5-8 from three-point range (63.5%).

Hunter Tyson was 4 of 5 from distance, Hemenway 3 of 4, Chase Hunter 4 of 8, P.J. Hall 1 of 1, and Josh Beadle a surprising 2 of 2 from 3-point range.

Clemson received only 35 minutes, 9 points and 4 rebounds from their bench, forcing the starters to log a ton of minutes. Hemenway played all 40 minutes, Tyson 36 and Chase Hunter 35.

There is much to improve upon for Clemson Men’s Basketball after a win over Towson

While this was a good win against a team likely to come out of the Colonial Athletic Association as the representative in the NCAA Tournament, Clemson has much to improve.

The Tigers committed 13 turnovers, many of them unforced and sloppy, with at least a couple coming off simple passes that should be second nature 10 games into the season.

Clemson moves to 8-2 on the season (1-0 in the ACC) and will take on Loyola Chicago Saturday in the Holiday Hoopsgiving in Atlanta.

Loyola Chicago is from the Atlantic 10 Conference and is 4-5 overall on the season and ranked No. 140 in today’s KenPom.com ratings.

In those same ratings, Clemson is now No. 56, with an offensive efficiency ranking of 40th and a defensive efficiency ranking of 83rd.
