The 9-1 Clemson football Tigers will look to put together a second consecutive strong performance when they take on the 5-5 Miami Hurricanes Saturday in Death Valley.

Clemson defeated Louisville 31-16 last week in a game that wasn’t as close as the score indicated, while Miami thrashed Georgia Tech by a score of 35-14.

This is the second of three consecutive home games for the Tigers, with arch-rival South Carolina on tap next week.

But first, Clemson has to deal with Miami as a 19-point favorite and an over/under sitting at 48, which implies a score of 33.5-14.5 in the Tigers favor.

The spread and total have not moved all week.

Last week I mentioned I didn’t trust the Tigers to hit 30 (they did) and therefore took the under, which hit despite Clemson hitting 31.

This week I think the Tigers have a much better chance of hitting the magic 30 mark as they are likely to get Kobe Pace back to add to their already powerful run game.

As usual, the wild card is D.J. Uiagalelei and the wide receivers, outside of Antonio Williams who has played solid, if unspectacular football, culminating in a 10 catch day against Louisville.

Can Clemson football cover 19 points against Miami?

That means I find myself struggling to believe this Clemson team will beat any team by 19 points, especially since the defense seems to give up a garbage time touchdown as they did last week.  This team could literarily dominate this game by 24 points and give up a garbage time score to win by 17.

As far as the total, I have the game ending right around the 48 number, which means I see it as too risky to bet that angle this week.

Best Bet: Miami +19

As a matter of fact, I see it hitting that number exactly, as I see a 31-17 final in the Tigers favor and a cover by the Hurricanes.
