Clemson Football: ACC Power Rankings through Week 11
By Casey Cregan
What a difference a week makes for Clemson football fans. The Tigers dominated, arguably the hottest team in the ACC.
Around the ACC: Boston College pulls off a stunner against North Carolina State. Miami bounces back from their schizophrenic season. North Carolina survived a bounce-back effort from Wake Forest, and Florida State dominated the free-falling Syracuse Orange. All that and some more in a wild and crazy week in the ACC.
These are the Power Rankings through the just completed Week 11.
No. 14 through 10
14. Virginia Tech Hokies – Last Week: 13 – (2-8) – What a lackluster performance against Duke this past Saturday. Just when the Hokies put up a great fight against a team that should blow them out, they lay an egg against a middle-of-the-road team in the ACC. And to think, the Hokies led 7-3 in the opening stanza before Duke won by 17 points. Next up: @ Liberty
13. Virginia Cavaliers – Last Week: 12 – (3-7) – Head Coach Tony Elliot is still struggling through 10 weeks. Seems like he went in trying to reinvent the wheel instead of using what worked a season ago, when UVA had a high-flying offense. This is a work in progress. That battle of Virginia is going to be LIT! Next up: vs. Coastal Carolina
12. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – Last Week: 10 – (4-6) – Just when I got really high on this team, with interim coach Brent Key, they lay an egg against Miami. In a very winnable game, the Jackets could only muster 14 points with 363 yards of total offense. Next up: @ North Carolina
11. Miami Hurricanes – Last Week 11 – (5-5) – Freshman QB Jacurri Brown has brought some life to the Canes offense. The defense has some absolute dudes on that line, and they finally put together a winning effort going away against a team with a pulse. Brown amassed 223 yards of total offense in a 35-14 victory against Georgia Tech. Next up: @ Clemson
10. Syracuse Orange – Last Week: 9 – (6-4) – Syracuse is lucky that the teams below them on the power rankings are putrid or worse, because the free-fall has continued. Sean Tucker cannot be Pl34sed with the effort of himself or his teammates in a 38-3 loss to Florida State on Saturday. And this lackluster performance was also with the return of QB Garrett Shrader. Woof!
