Defensive linemen with 4-stars or more catch my attention, but I wouldn’t be human if a 5-star quarterback didn’t catch my eye.

Davis is a 5-star prospect in the 247 Composite, currently ranked as the 4th best quarterback and 20th overall in the nation. He has a long-standing relationship with Clemson after attending camp several times over the years.

If you want to know why Davis is rated so highly, look at this highlight video of him working out in the 8th grade.

He looked better in the 8th grade than a lot of FBS quarterbacks playing today (cough…Iowa Hawkeyes…cough). These are his highlights of his 2021 (sophomore) season at Catawba Ridge High School in Fort Mill, South Carolina. The first comparable that comes to mind, due to size and ability, is defending Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young of Alabama.

Davis was in attendance Saturday and he once again had positive things to say.

Davis is only one of two 2024 quarterbacks who currently hold an offer from Clemson, so the Tigers obviously like him. While it is clear that Davis likes Clemson too, the chatter in the recruiting industry indicates that he may be looking elsewhere. It is thought that Davis is likely to look at schools where he has a chance to play early.

Unless there are major changes over the next two years, Davis would be entering Clemson as a freshman when Cade Klubnik would be a junior and Christopher Vizzina would be a sophomore. You never know when things can change, both at Clemson and with Davis’s priorities, and it might turn out the great night in Death Valley could pay dividends in the long run.
