Clemson Football: The Class of 2024 enjoys trips to Death Valley
By John Chancey
Clemson Football scored a big victory over the NC State Wolfpack this past weekend, and Death Valley was electric. The immediate impact is that the Tigers are now in the driver’s seat in the ACC Atlantic division. The long-term benefits might be even more important, as Clemson received a lot of unofficial recruiting visits from prospects in the Class of 2024. The feedback from those prospects has been very positive.
Sammy Brown
- Position: Linebacker
- Height: 6’-2.5”
- Weight: 225
- Hometown: Jefferson, Georgia
- High school: Jefferson
Brown is one of the highest profile prospects in the Class of 2024. He already has a 5-star in the 247 Composite with a .9941 rating. He is the 9th ranked prospect nationally.
Clemson doesn’t usually offer prospects prior to June 1 of the summer before their junior season in high school, but Brown was an exception to that rule. He was offered in March of this year because the staff at Clemson had already developed a good relationship with Brown and his family.
Brown was also in attendance for the victory over Furman, so his interest in the program is clear, but he also isn’t rushing things. He is doing his due diligence before announcing a decision. All signs suggest Clemson is in a good position and that they have prioritized Brown as a recruit to continue the influx of talented defensive players choosing to play in Death Valley.
In Brown’s sophomore highlights, he makes some plays on the offensive side of the ball, but it becomes clear why he is being recruited as a linebacker. He has all the qualities you want to see at the position: speed, power, agility, awareness & tenacity. He makes plays against the rush and the pass.
And let’s just be honest: he has great hair. Clemson hasn’t had hair like that since Trevor.
