Clemson Football: Saturday night lights pays dividends on recruiting trail
Less than 24 hours removed from a victory over a top 10 opponent and ACC Atlantic Division rival Clemson football is reaping dividends on the recruiting front.
Tavoy Feagin, a 6’0, 170 pound cornerback from Tampa’s Carrollwood Day High has been projected to Clemson with two crystal balls in favor of the Tigers.
Feagin is a consensus 4 star player and is rated much higher by 247sports (73 overall) vs. the composite (149 overall) in the Class of 2024.
Either way he’s a top 150 recruit with a ton of big time offers including Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame and Florida, among others.
In other words, the kind of recruit everyone wants and not a developmental type player.
It’s a reminder that while as fans we may appreciate day or afternoon games, recruits can be influenced by the atmosphere and trappings of night games, including national television audiences and all that brings.
I don’t know that to be the case here, but given that Feagin was crystal balled to Clemson the very next afternoon making that leap is not a giant leap.
Clemson’s win over North Carolina State featured the defense and while the star of the show may have been the defensive line, Feagin was treated to a defensive backfield that included a couple of true freshmen on the field.
This is also a good time to remind us all of a couple of things – Feagin has not committed to Clemson and 2024 is a long ways away and anything can happen.
Less than 24 hours after Clemson football beat North Carolina State under the lights the Tigers reap recruiting dividends
The names on the Feagin’s list of suitors should be fair warning that this isn’t close to over, but having said that, getting two crystal balls to Clemson immediately following a win on national TV in front of a raucous home crowd at Death Valley says something about what kind of evening it was in Clemson.
Whether the crystal balls are on point and hold true remains to be seen, but from where I sit the Tigers are already reaping the dividends of a huge weekend both on and off the field.
