Clemson football remained at No. 5 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll released on Sunday.

The Tigers defeated Wake Forest 51-45 in double overtime in Winston-Salem Saturday and followed the top 4 of Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State and Michigan.

Alabama and Ohio State won in blowouts while Georgia and Michigan were in closer than expected contests.

After leading early, the Tigers had to rally from being down 28-20 in the third quarter to defeat the Demon Deacons for the 14th consecutive time.

D.J. Uiagalelei threw for 371 yards and 5 touchdowns in the win.

No. 6-10 are USC, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oklahoma State and North Carolina State, making the upcoming Tiger-Wolfpack match up a top 10 tilt.

There was some talk of the Tigers being passed in the poll, but neither USC nor Kentucky were impressive this week and the Tigers win was over a ranked opponent.

The second 10 are: Penn State, Utah, Oregon, Ole Miss, Washington, Baylor, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, BYU and Arkansas.

The final five are Minnesota, Wake Forest, Florida State, Pittsburgh and Kansas State.

The ACC has five teams in the top 25, despite Miami’s humiliating loss to Middle Tennessee State.

There is a possibility that Clemson will face three top 25 teams in four weeks, if Florida State can remain ranked ahead of their scheduled October 15th meeting in Tallahassee.

Clemson football is currently 5th in the AP Poll and will face North Carolina State, freshly placed in the top 10 in this week’s poll

Clemson will attempt to extend it’s nation best 36 game home winning streak and Power 5 best 10 game winning streak on Saturday at 7:30 EST on ABC.

The Tigers last lost at Death Valley on November 12, 2016 to Pittsburgh as Chris Blewitt kicked a 48 yard field goal with six seconds to go for a 43-42 win.

Clemson, of course, went on to defeat Wake Forest and South Carolina to finish the regular season, Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship Game and Ohio State and Alabama in the College Football Playoff to capture the school’s second National Championship.
