Clemson Football: 5 Things to look for as Tigers tackle Deacs
I didn’t see Dabo’s presser this week, but if he thinks the Louisiana Tech quarterbacks could “spin it”, well, Sam Hartman probably leaves him speechless, if that’s possible for Dabo.
There was a point where we wondered if Hartman would even play in this game due to blood clot issues, but he’s healthy and doing his thing.
In two games Hartman has 625 yards passing, 7 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, while completing 62% of his passes.
Those two games were against Vanderbilt and Liberty, so he’s stepping up in competition this week, but Hartman is a savvy vet and he will get his.
With the state of the Deacons running game and Clemson’s rush defense I would expect the ball to be in the air early and often.
Hartman has had almost 3 seconds to throw on average, has been pressured 15 times, sacked five times and had to scramble another five and is only 3 for 8 when under pressure.
Hartman’s game is the short, under 10 yard variety, but he’s gone deep 14 times in 2 games and the Clemson pass rush needs to get home on a few of those where his time to throw is over 3 seconds on average.
Hopefully the back end of the Clemson defense is healthier than last weekend and on the same page. If not, Hartman and A.T. Perry will likely expose them as we saw a lot of struggles in coverage from Toriano Pride and Jeadyn Lukus.
