Trevor Lawrence has a day as Jaguars route Colts
On Sunday the potential that the Jacksonville Jaguars saw in form Clemson football quarterback Trevor Lawrence when they drafted him first overall in the 2021 NFL Draft finally came to the surface as the Jags rolled past Indianapolis 24-0.
Lawrence finished the day 25 for 30 through the air with two touchdowns and zero interceptions, while adding 11 yards on the ground.
Both of Lawrence’s touchdown passes went to Christian Kirk, one of five yards and the second of for ten.
Kirk finished with six catches for 78 yards.
Lawrence led Jacksonville on a 15 play, 68 yard, nine minute and 11 second drive that included four third down conversions and one fourth down conversion.
In the second quarter Lawrence led the Jags on a 6 play, 79 yard drive for a 14-0 lead, before widening the lead to 17-0 at halftime.
On their second drive of the third quarter the Jags marched 92 yards in 12 plays, using 7:42 on the clock, with the big plays being a 21 yard pass to Kirk and Lawrencing connecting with Kirk on fourth and one for the score.
Lawrence’s former Clemson teammate, Travis Etienne, rushed for 20 yards on 9 carries and added three receptions for 33 yards.
In the first two games of the 2022 season Lawrence is 49 for 72 for 510 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.

Lawrence threw for 10,098 yards and 90 touchdowns at Clemson over his career, where he guided the Tigers to the 2018 National Championship as the Tigers blasted the Alabama Crimson Tide 44-16 in the title game to complete a perfect 15-0 season.
Lawrence signed a 4 year, $36,793,488 contract with Jacksonville, including a $24,118,900 signing bonus, $36,793,488 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $9,198,372.
Lawrence will earn a base salary of $825,000 and a roster bonus of $1,507,431, while carrying a cap hit of $8,362,156 and a dead cap value of $20,909,175.
After going 3-14 in Lawrence’s rookie season the Jags are now 1-1 in 2022 and appear to be much improved, with a new coaching staff, Lawrence in his second season and several offseason additions, plus a healthy Etienne.
