Clemson football is off to a 2-0 start against less that stiff competition and that theme continues this week as the Tigers take on Louisiana Tech of Conference USA as an almost five touchdown favorite. Whew!
If you listened to Dabo Swinney’s Tuesday presser you know there’s plenty to work on for the Tigers before it gets real next week with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in Winston-Salem.
Swinney dressed down his defense for their effort and “loafs” on Tuesday and it’s been a long time since I remember that, at least in a public way.
So, let’s start with that defense.
Myles Murphy is a name we’ve heard a lot of over the last couple years and Mr. Murphy is expected to be a high draft pick in next April’s NFL draft, but we’ve barely heard a peep out of him over the course of two games.
The stat sheet shows in 63 snaps Murphy has four total tackles and a pass broken up, but no sacks or tackles for loss and while Bryan Bresee has been front and center, at least against Georgia Tech, Murphy has been quiet.
Needless to say the Tigers need to get Murphy going with Wake Forest, North Carolina State and Boston College dead ahead after this week.
