Clemson football finds itself in a familiar position this week as they prepare for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.
For the third consecutive game the Tigers are huge favorites, this time registering as a 33.5 point favorite at WynnBet, after opening as a 31 point favorite.
With the over/under set at 55.0, that implies a final score of around 44-11 or 45-10 in Clemson’s favor.
The Bulldogs are 1-1 on the season, losing 52-24 in the season opener against Missouri and then defeating Stephen F. Austin 52-17.
Louisiana Tech was a 19.5 point underdog to Missouri with an over/under of 62.5, which means they did not cover the spread and the game went over the total.
The Bulldogs did cover the 6 point spread as favorites over Stephen F. Austin and the over of 65 hit as well.
That leaves the Bulldogs 1-1 against the spread with the over hitting in both games.
Clemson meanwhile is also 1-1 against the spread, covering against Georgia Tech thanks to two blocked punts, then not coming close to covering against Furman as the offense sputtered in the second half.
Depending on what number you got as the over/under for the Georgia Tech game the Tigers are either 1-1 on the over/under or 0-2, going under both games.
For the third consecutive game Clemson football is a massive favorite and will likely struggle to cover the spread
With the current number set at 55, it would be difficult to take the over at this point, given Clemson’s inability to put a complete game together on offense in the first two contests against what was thought to be defenses the Tigers could take advantage of.
We’ll have a final pick later in the week, but my early lean would be to take Louisiana Tech and the points as the current spread crosses the important number of 31.
If you’re and over/under person, the total of 55.0 is tempting, but it may be wiser to wait until later in the week to see if that number crosses 56 and jump on it then.
Either way, for the third consecutive game the Tigers are massive favorites and will likely struggle to cover the spread.
