Clemson football alumni Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne along with their Jacksonville Jaguars teammates fell to the Washington Commanders, 28-22 in opening week action of the NFL.

It was a back and forth affair that saw 24 points scored in the fourth quarter as the Commanders scored the final two touchdowns on passes from Carson Wentz to Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson, respectively.

Lawrence finished the day 24 of 42 for 275 yards with one touchdown and one interception on the afternoon.

The interception came with 1:10 to go in the fourth quarter ending any chance for a Jaguar rally.

Lawrence and free agent signee Christian Kirk connected six times on 12 targets for 117 yards, including a 49-yarder, in their first game as teammates, in what could be a good sign for the Jags future.

Lawrence’s 75.0 rating was ahead of his rookie year when he finished the season with a 71.9 rating, though his completion percentage was down slightly compared to last season.

Etienne seeing his first NFL action after sitting out the entire 2021 season due to a Lisfranc injury, had 4 rushes for 47 yards, including a 27 yarder, and two catches for 18 yards on the day.

The Jaguars fell to 0-1 on the season and host the Indianapolis Colts next Sunday.  The Colts tied the Texans 20-20 on Sunday.
