Clemson football readies for game 2 just five days after game one, Monday night against Georgia Tech which ultimately turned out to be a 41-10 Clemson victory.

There was some drama Monday, but you never felt like the Tigers were going to lose and that’s certainly the case this Saturday.

The Tigers and their new, monstrous scoreboard open their home season against the FCS Furman Paladin as a prohibitive favorite of -44.5 with an over/under 51.5 at WynnBet.

That implies a score of around 49-3 in the Tigers favor.  Yep, if this one is not a laugher sound the alarm for the Tigers.

Furman is coming off a 52-0 victory over North Greenville, but the step up in competition will make it difficult for the Paladins to compete this week.

The entire RubbingtheRock.com crew took Clemson, of course, with no one predicting a remotely close game.

All eyes are focused on the quarterback position, as Cade Klubnik lead the Tigers to a touchdown on his first and only drive against Georgia Tech, further fueling the fire on the quarterback position.

My guess is Klubnik plays more this week, but that likely means we see more of the Clemson second team everywhere on the field and throws a 44.5 point spread into question.

Clemson football plays it’s second game in five days, taking on the Furman Paladins in their home opener at Memorial Stadium in Clemson on Saturday

If this was 2018 and Tee Higgins and Amari Rodgers were catching passes from Trevor Lawrence, 44.5 might make sense, but it isn’t and D.J. Uiagalelei is still trying to get right.

As I said last week, I’m not sure how the opponent scores except by turnover or special teams, so the doubt is not on the implied 3 by Furman, but rather the 49 on Clemson’s end.

The only way Clemson got to 41 Monday was with not one, but two blocked punts, which is a once in a generation (if not more) event.  Don’t bet on it happening two weeks in a row.

For me this is a stay away, given the Clemson offensive struggles, but if I had to bet something, go with the under 51.5.
