Clemson Football: The picks are in! Staff picks for week 2
Each week this season the RubbingtheRock.com staff will pick the score of the Clemson football game against the spread, except for the Furman game where we’ll only pick a score.
We’ll also pick a wild card game in a “friendly” competition.
Houston Burnett was the big winner for week 1, winning both his bets, while Casey Cregan split and John Chancey and Marty Coleman went 0-2.
The points race looks like this:
- Houston 190.91
- Casey -9.09
- John -200.00
- Marty -200.00
Without further ado, here are the picks for week 2.
Houston Burnett (2-0)
What if I told you a large swathe of Clemson fans are acting like this was the end of the UGA game from last year and not a 31 point win on the road just under 5 days ago? It feels different and to me a little better considering the starting point this season. The real question is, if Clemson gets a lead early, will there be a glimpse of a certain #2 running a little with the 1’s.
Houston’s wild card pick is UCF -6.5 against Louisville.
Casey “The Beef” Cregan (1-1)
31 point victory and we still have questions. What a world we live in. This is a get-right game this weekend vs. Furman. A game that could and should grow some confidence all the way around. From play-callers to the players themselves. Furman is unscored upon through one week of the season. That changes quickly.
Casey’s wild card pick is Arizona +10.5 against against Mississippi State.
John Chancey (0-2)
Let’s see, Clemson just covered and scored 41 against Georgia Tech on the road, so they should do better against Furman. Tech scored 10, so Clemson should hold Furman to less. Then again, the Tigers will probably play backups most of the second half. The Tigers backups are pretty good though. I’m thinking about this way too much.
John’s wild card pick is Iowa State +4 against Iowa.
Marty Coleman (0-2)
Clemson works on the details that were a problem Monday and win their second game in 5 days easily. Expect to see more of Cade Klubnik in the home opener, in fact, expect to see more of most reserves as Dabo and staff will not be encumbered by a travel roster. Stay healthy my friends.
Marty’s wild card pick is UTSA -2 against Army.
So, there you have it, all four predict an easy Clemson victory and pick games across the country for their wild card.
